By Ivy Benson - Ghanaian Chronicle

As part of its preparations to roll out its network throughout the nation, Zain-Ghana Limited, the fifth mobile telecommunications network in the country, yesterday launched its “Know your Number” pre-registration in Accra.

The exercise was to afford the public the opportunity to acquire any number of choice on the Zain network, before the formal commencement of its operations in the country, by registering the desired number through www.ichoose.gh.zain.com.

Speaking at the launch, the Country Director of Zain-Ghana Limited, Mr. Philip Sowah, noted that the telecommunications network had, over the past year, gone through giant activities to get its network running very soon.

According to the Country Director, Zain was set to give quality and good customer service to its customers, as personnel were being trained to equip them with the necessary working tools, to give off their best.

Mr. Sowah indicated that the company's “one-network” concept, also affords consumers, who travel to other countries, when Zain is operational, services as though they were in their local countries, without having to pay for the roaming service.

Promising to use the best and current technology in the network's operations, the Country Director noted that the presence of Zain in the country was not to test the waters, but to stay competitively on the market.

“We have the aim of being the number in telecommunication service,” Mr. Sowah intimated. The Marketing Director of Zain, Mr. Ransford Nyarko, on his part, called on the public to register their numbers of choice, and “Zain would make it a reality” of enjoying the wonderful world.

“Take your place now in the world of Zain,” he coaxed.

Zain is major player on the African continent, and a pioneer of mobile telecommunications in the Middle East.

It provides a comprehensive range of mobile voice and data services, to over 50 million customers, 33 million of which are in Africa.

Zain recently begun operations in Ghana, through the acquisition of a majority stake in Westel Ghana Limited last year, and the company is looking forward to launching its services across the country, by the end of the year.
