One of three persons who were arrested on October 16 this year at Bukere in Bolgatanga for allegedly stealing nine cows from Tongo Baare in the Talensi-Nabdam district has been sentenced to 12 years' imprisonment in hard labour by a Bolgatanga Magistrate Court.

Atesebasa Timbilla, 30, pleaded guilty to his charges and was sentenced accordingly.

The two others; Aziz Nyumah, 30 and Louise Azure, 41, have also been remanded in Police custody to reappear on November 25, 2008.

According to the Municipal Police Crime Officer, K. Owusu Sekyere, the two pleaded guilty with explanation and were remanded to enable the Police conduct further investigation into the case.

The three men, it would be recalled, had approached a cattle farmer at Bukere to sell the stolen animals to him at a very cheap price which raised the suspicion of the prospective buyer, so he reported the case to the Police.

They were subsequently arrested and detained to enable the Police carry out investigations into the matter.
