MOH,Health Partners Sign Aide Memoire

Health Minister, Major (Rtd)Courage Quashigah (right) Signs for Ghana whiles Mr Donald Teitelbaum appends for Health Partners 

The Minister for Health, Major( Rtd) Courage Quashigah has said that Ghana is now well positioned to reach a Middle Income Status with the discovery of oil in the country, but in order to achieve this she needs a healthy citizenry to manage the economy. 'Healthy people managing the economy will ensure that it is stable' he added.

Major(rtd)Quashigah was speaking at the signing of an Aide Memoire of his Ministry and its health partners yesterday in Accra.

He noted that the memoire is a document that is meant to serve as a guide to stakeholders in the health sector to ensure good health in the ensuing year.

The Minister said the collective expectation of his Ministry is that 'the signing of the Aide Memoire will enable them achieve what is contained in the theme for the year 2009'. The theme for the year 2009 is 'Change for Better Results: Improving maternal and Neo-natal Health'.

The head of the health partners Mr Donald Teitelbaum commended the government of Ghana for paying close attention and taking the necessary steps in ensuring good health conditions for women and children in the country.

He pledged the support of the health partners to always come up with strategies and innovative ideas to support the health sector of Ghana.
