Contrary to reports that Nana Akufo-Addo, NPP presidential candidate cannot visit Bawku, he made a spectacular visit to Bawku with running mate Mahamudu Bawumia and entourage without any incident.

A very peaceful-looking Bawku welcomed the team with the 'Kangaroo' dance as the citizens lined the streets.

The crowd which consisted of both young and old were smartly dressed in NPP T shirt and paraphernalia, dancing to special songs composed for Nana"s campaign.

Nana Akufo-Addo, Bawumia and the entourage headed straight to Bawku Naba Asigri Abugrago Azoka II's palace to pay their respects and ask the blessing of the chief and his elders on his quest to lead the nation in January 2009.

The NPP flagbearer regretted that other engagements and circumstances had prevented him from visiting earlier, noting that Bawku was one of the oldest and important towns in the country.

He said every well meaning Ghanaian is committed to promoting peace in Bawku and Ghana as a whole.

"What ever it takes to bring peace to Bawku will be done; we are prepared to go that extra mile to ensure that peace is prevail in Bawku,' he declared.

The Bawku Naba expressed his gratitude to Nana Addo and his team for choosing Dr. Bawumia, a son of the north as his running mate.

He said Nana Akufo-Addo's visit to Bawku and its environs was in the right direction because it will brighten the chances of the party's parliamentary candidate.

He later invited Nana and his Dr Bawumia to a private meeting in his palace.

Nana Akufo-Addo, Dr. Bawumia, Yaw Osafo Marfo, Grace Omaboe otherwise known as Maame Dokono among others later addressed a huge rally in Bawku, the likes of which had not been seen in the area for a long time.

Continuing the tour, Nana and his entourage made a stop over at Pusitiaga, hometown of the deceased NPP firebrand Hawa Yakubu where they visited her family home and laid wreaths on her tomb.

Nana and this team also visited the Pusitiaga Naa who predicted that Nana and the NPP had already been voted into power by the people of Pusitiaga.
