Ahead of this year's general elections, the National Sports for all Association, Ghana, and the Greater Accra Keep-Fit Clubs Association, in conjunction with the National Sports Council, has put together a walk exercise throughout the country, slated for this Saturday.
The programme, supported by the Ghana Olympic Committee (GOC), is intended to sensitize the electorate to keep fit and healthy, and also to preach peace during and after the December 7 general elections.
The 8 kilometre walk will see all keep fit clubs assemble in their various zones, starting from some designated points at 7:00 a.m., and ending behind the Ohene Djan Stadium in Osu
Keep fit clubs from Tema and its environs will start from the Trade Fair, La, while those in the Pokuase area will start from Caprice and Kpehe. Those in Kaneshie will start from First Light, with those from Madina and surrounding areas, from the El-Wak Stadium.
According to the National Organiser, Mr Kofi Amuzu, the exercise will take place in all the ten regions, and participants are expected to respect the code of conduct of the exercise, which includes the avoidance slogans of the various parties and wearing of party colours among others.
Expected to grace the occasion is the Chief Executive of the National Sports Council, Mr Prince Ernest Oduro-Mensah.
