ISD Orients New Employees

The Information Services Department (ISD) yesterday organised an orientation exercise for its new employees in Accra, to educate them on the functions of the Divisions and Sections of the Department.

Speaking at the function, the Public Relations Manager, Mrs Josephine Robertson Carboo, disclosed that the ISD is the Public Relations organ of the Government and by way of the department's functions, Public Relations Officers are sent to the various Ministries, Departments and Government Agencies.

She advised participants to allow themselves to get to know the various Divisions of the Department, since they will not remain at one location of the department for long.

Briefing the participant on the work on the Operations Division of ISD, Mr J K Amuah stated that his Division takes messages and programmes of the Government to the doorsteps of the people, by way of outreach programmes and gets feedback to the Government and the various agencies that use their services.

Mr Godfried Yormesor, briefing the participants on the functions of the Publishing Division disclosed the first publication 'Colonial Empire at War' was produced in 1945 and that is when the publications Department came into being.

He stated that newspaper publications in local languages will be revived to allow uneducated people to get a feel of what is going on around them.

Deputy Directors of the other divisions who addressed employees included Mr A.D Koblavie, IT, Mrs Efua Essel, Finance and Administration and Mrs Laudie Kutts, Human Resource. They also explained the contributions of their divisions to the department and encouraged the new employees to put in their best and not relent in their efforts to building a better civil service.

In his closing remarks, the Director of ISD, Mr Samuel Amankwah, thanked participants for coming to the programme and encouraged them to work hard in order to climb the ladder of career profession.
