Obuasi Gov`t Hospital weeps over inadequate medical officers

By Albert Nana Asante, Obuasi - Ghanaian Chronicle

The Administrator at the Obuasi Government Hospital, Mr. Felix Archer, has expressed concern over the lack of adequate medical officers at the hospital.

According to him, the hospital, which records an average Out Patients Department (OPD) attendance of 200 people, has only one medical officer, and this situation he said, was worrying.

He has therefore appealed to the government, to assist the hospital with three additional medical officers, to augment the staff.

Mr. Archer was speaking in an interview with the Ashanti/Obuasi File, when the Member of Parliament (MP) for Obuasi, Mr. Edward Ennin, presented medical items to the facility.

He again disclosed that the hospital lacked basic diagnostic imaging machines such as x-ray and ultra sound scanner.

The Administrator also lamented over the lack of an incubator and emergency unit.
