Naba Martin Abilba III, Paramount Chief of Bolgatanga, said he will not countenance any act of violence in his traditional area perpetrated by some few people to undermine the peace.

He gave the warning in an interview with the Ghana News Agency in Bolgatanga on Friday, following the misunderstanding that ensued between Mr Joseph Kofi Adda, Member of Parliament for Navrongo Central and Mr Adams Mahama an aide to the Vice President, Alhaji Aliu Mahama last week Saturday.

The misunderstanding occurred during an NPP rally in the region and it was alleged that the following day the MP dispatched a group of people from Navrongo to Atulibabise in Bolgatanga to attack Adams.

Naba Abilba explained that one could have imagined the repercussions on the community if the youth in the area had also taken action.

"Fortunately, the youth were not aware, otherwise they would also have reacted and that could have led to bloodshed which would have been bad," he said.

Naba Abilba urged politicians to desist from using the youth to foment trouble for their selfish interest and warned that he and his elders would not allow such a misfortune to happen.

The Paramount Chief said he had dispatched a delegation to the Navro-Pio Pe Dr Ben A. Adda, to talk to his sub chiefs to talk to their subjects never to allow themselves to be used by selfish politicians.

When the GNA contacted the Regent of the Navrongo Traditional Area, Pe Belinea Adda, who was acting on behalf of the Paramount Chief, he confirmed receiving a delegation from the Bolga-Naba.

He said he would be convening a meeting with the sub-chiefs and the traditional council on Tuesday to discuss the need for peace.

The Regent said he would also meet the Regional Minister, Mr. Alhassan Samari to see how they could help address the problem of violence in the area.

He said the Navrongo Traditional Council would not sit down for politics or for one person to cause destruction to the entire Navrongo Township and its people.

It would be recalled that on the day of the said rally, it was alleged that Mr Kofi Adda, in his address, did not acknowledge the presence of the Vice President, which led to the confrontation between him and the aid to the Vice President.
