Boakye Mensah of the Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT) headquarters in Accra, during the first round of voting, but could not get the two-thirds majority of all members of the assembly.

During the second round of voting, when the two other candidates with lesser votes had withdrawn from the race, Nana Yaw Osei again faced assembly members for his fate to be decided to see if he could garner the required two-thirds of the 60-member assembly.

This time, he managed to secure 47 votes, representing 85.5 per cent.

Before voting started, candidates were given two minutes each to outline their visions and what they could do to help propel the district to the targets it had set for itself.

Nana Yaw Osei, after the vote, thanked the other contestants for their competitive spirit, and urged all to forge ahead in unity for the overall development of the district.

He gave the assurance that he would put his expertise and experience at the disposal of the assembly to enhance its effective and efficient administration.

The new Presiding Member also called for support from within and outside the district to enable him do his work efficiently.
