The Odumasi Local Authority (L.A.) Primary School near Akim Oda in the Birim Central Municipality of the Eastern Region, on Friday made an urgent appeal to the assembly to

construct a new classroom block to replace the present deteriorating structure.

Nana Kwaku Abam, chief of the town, made the appeal when he visited the school to inspect the deteriorating nature of the block.

He described the school structure, as a "death trap" which, he said, did not promote a conducive atmosphere for teaching and learning.

According to him, the condition of the block worsened every year, adding that anytime it threatened to rain, classes had to be suspended and the pupils sent home.

He appealed to the assembly to take steps to construct a new building to forestall any disaster in the future.

Nana Abam also advised parents to avoid engaging their children on diamond winning and other economic activities at the expense of their education.
