Several persons suffered various degrees of injury when a bus overturned at the Weija Junction along the Malam–Kasoa highway. At least six of the injuries were severe.
The injured were rushed to the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital.
The Mercedes Benz bus with registration number GR 5951 A travelling from Accra was destined for Winneba in the Central Region.
Some eye witnesses at the scene of accident said the driver lost control of the steering when a front tire of the bus climbed up the median.
The bus was said to have dragged itself through some distance after turning on its side because it was moving at a top speed.
Residents from nearby houses had to cut through the windscreen to pick the injured as most part of the vehicle had been reduced to twisted steel.
The accident caused a heavy traffic build up for at least one hour.
Police officials at the scene said the accident was the fifth recorded Tuesday.
