Construction of Police District headquarters at Tafo progresses

The GH ¢550,000 Police District and Divisional

Headquarters project being constructed for the Tafo police in the Kumasi metropolis was progressing steadily.

The project made up of offices and barracks which was commenced five

months ago, was being funded by the government and executed by Messrs Barreys

Construction Limited.

Conducting newsmen round the project site at Tafo at the weekend, Alhaji

Abubekr Mamudu, the project manager said the first phase of the project involving the construction of offices and a four-storey building containing 24 flats was near completion.

He told newsmen that the second phase of the project made up of the

construction of 48 flats would soon start after the completion of the first phase.

Alhaji Mamudu, who is also the Tafo Zongo Youth Chief, praised the Member

of Parliament (MP) for Tafo-Pankrono, Dr. Anthony Akoto Osei, for his interest and concern for the project.

He noted that his regular visits to the site had helped to speed up work on the project.

Mr Kofi Asamoah, Assemblyman for Santan Electoral Area at Old Tafo,

expressed delight at the on-going project and expressed the hoped that it would help to address the acute accommodation problems facing police personnel.

He asked traders who were affected by the project to exercise patience whiles efforts were made to re-locate them.
