Education is the backbone of the survival and development of any community, Nana Obutu Frimpong, Chief of Essaso in the West Akim Municipality, has stated.

He made the statement when he met elders of Essaso and a cross-section of the populace here, to impress upon them that education brings development, hence the need to send their children to school.

Nana Obutu, in his maiden encounter with the people, urged them to continue to encourage their pupils to take studies seriously.

He said he was prepared to support all their endeavours, to ensure that education was really improved to enhance the socio-economic and political development of the community.

The chief appealed to the Ministry of Education, Science and Sports not to relent in its efforts at ensuring that education was brought to the doorsteps of the ordinary citizens.

According to him, the Essaso community included several villages where children had to walk several kilometres to attend school at Essaso.

He therefore, appealed to the sector ministry to endeavour to establish more schools, in addition to the only basic and Junior High School here, which was overcrowded.

Nana Obutu was expressed concern, about the road network in the area and also appealed to the West Akim Municipal Assembly to help re-shape the roads in that part of the municipality, to ensure that more foodstuffs were transported to the commercial centres.

He assured the people that he would use the rich experience he had gained at his workplace to help develop his community.
