Mr Kwadwo Osei Owusu, Fanteakwa District Director of Education has urged Circuit Supervisors of Education to intensify supervision of schools to improve academic standards in the district.

He said laxity in supervision by head teachers had contributed to poor performance of students at the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE)in the district.

Mr Osei Owusu made the call at a meeting with Circuit Supervisors at Begoro on Thursday. He pointed out that circuit supervisors would henceforth be held responsible for lapses in schools within their jurisdiction.

Mr Osei Owusu asked them to monitor the performance of teachers for promotion.

He announced that the Fanteakwa District Disciplinary Committee would be reactivated to sanction recalcitrant teachers.

The Supervisors complained of delay in the payment of their allowances to motivate them to work hard.
