A Deputy Director at the Centre for National Culture on Wednesday appealed to craftsmen in the Central Region to form associations to enable them access loans from financial institutions.
Such associations will also encourage teamwork and networking, promoting “perfect competition” and provide them with marketing avenues.
Mr Eric Matey said this at a day's workshop organised by the Central Region Development Commission (CEDECOM) to sensitize the craftsmen on ways to maximize opportunities in the sector.
He urged the participants to document their products to help ensure their authenticity and prevent pirating.
Mrs Ama Abraham, head of the tourism development unit, CEDECOM, said a handicraft workshop pavilion has been built at Abrafo, a few kilometers from the Kakum National Park.
