Physically-challenged persons, in all the 27 districts in the Ashanti Region, are to receive training in proposal writing, to enable them to access district assemblies' common funds.

Mr Yaw Poku Attakora-Asamoah, National Vice President of the Physically-Challenged Association, who told the Ghana News Agency in Kumasi on Wednesday, said the training have been grouped into five zones.

He said for the past three years, most district assemblies had failed to release the two per cent of the District Assemblies Common Fund to the physically-challenged. The reason he said was their inability to forward proposals for the release of the funds.

The National President noted that, the situation had rendered the Association's programmes ineffective for lack of financial support.

Mr Attakora-Asamoah explained that not only would the members, particularly the blind and deaf get training in proposal writing, but they would also be schooled on proper accounting procedures, disability law, leadership, and communication presentation skills.

He said the programme would span five weeks from Friday October 24, 2008 under the sponsorship of the district assemblies.
