Draughtsman jailed for canning and wounding fire woman

The Winneba Magistrate Court has jailed a 28- year old Draughtsman from Winneba 12 months for assaulting a public officer.

Nana Bostie pleaded guilty.

Narrating the fact of the case to the court presided over by Mr Ali Baba Abature, prosecution Police Chief Inspector Paul Adamah said the complaint Miss Cecile Asante, a personnel of the Ghana National Fire Service stationed at Wejia was a former girlfriend of the accused.

He said after the relationship had ended, Miss Asante joined the Ghana Fire Service and on completion of her training, decided to go for her photographs that were with the accused.

Chief Inspector Adamah said, on 24th August, 2008 Miss Asante ranged Bostie and informed him that she was coming for the pictures.

According to Chief Inspector Adamah the accused on his part directed the complainant to meet him at Lagoon Lodge in Winneba for the items.

The prosecution said the woman who arrived in Fire Service Uniform met the accused person at the Spot and he asked her to follow him to his house for the pictures.

He said when they got to the house in Winneba, Bostie instead of giving the pictures to the lady, rather picked a cane and started whipping her and destroyed her uniform.

The prosecution said the fire lady also sustained some injuries as a result of the brutality meted out to her by the accused person.

Chief Inspector Adamah said, the complainant managed to escape and reported the incidence to the Winneba police who later arrested the accused.
