Some residents in the Tamale Metropolis on Saturday commended the People's National Convention (PNC) and its leader Dr Edward Mahama for nominating a female as his running mate.

A cross section of people GNA interviewed said Dr Mahama had fulfilled a portion of the party's manifesto.

They appealed to all women to rally round the PNC to win the election.

Mr. Samuel Owusu, a resident of Kukuo, said apart from Dr Mahama nominating a female as his running mate, the party is a peaceful one and would be the best alternative to the NPP and the NDC since “both parties have nothing new to offer Ghanaians.”

He described Dr Mahama as a fine gentleman and a man whose appearance signified truth and faithfulness and would not deceive Ghanaians or amass wealth when he wins power since he had the interest of Ghanaians at heart.

“Unfortunately, Ghanaians failed to see such qualities in Dr Mahama in past elections” he said, and expressed the hope that with the electorate would see the wisdom in the party and vote it to power.

Mr. Baba Iddrisu Musah said since women were always fighting for gender balance, this was the time to show their solidarity and rally behind the PNC and Madam Petra Amegashie to wrestle power from the NPP.

He claimed that the political climate has changed in the Northern Region due to the nomination of Madam Amegashie and Dr Mahama's affability and being honest on issues rather than resorting to politics of insults and attack.

Madam Adwoa Apuri, a resident of Fuo SSNIT flats, said Dr Mahama had made Ghanaian women proud and appealed to all women not to let their fellow woman down by voting massively for the PNC as a justification that “women can perform equal functions as men.”
