A Sekondi District Magistrate's Court on Wednesday imposed a fine of 480 Ghana Cedis on Kojo Mensah, a mason, for breaking a bye-law of the Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolitan Assembly (STMA).
The accused who pleaded guilty to non-compliance would in default of the fine, serve one month imprisonment in hard labour.
The Court also ordered that an alleged assault by the accused against a building inspector of the assembly who asked him to stop the construction of an unauthorized structure be referred to the Police for investigation and prosecution.
Prosecuting, Mr Anthony Hayford, a Prosecutor of STMA, said on October 13 this year, the building inspector saw the accused constructing an unauthorized structure at Kwesimintsim while on inspection.
He said the building inspector asked the accused to stop the construction of the structure but he refused.
Mr Hayford said the accused became offended, exchanged words with the building inspector and later hit and wounded him with a hand trowel.
