Mr Solomon Abeka Keelson, Western Regional Marketing Officer of Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) has appealed to the people of Atwima-Mponua and Bibiani-Anhwiaso-Bekwai districts to be extra vigilant and demand identification cards from any person who poses as a worker of the company and tries to temper with the transformers in their communities.

The Regional Marketing Officer who was speaking at a public education durbar at Nyinahin on Monday on dangers of Electricity, urged the people to report any faulty transformers to ECG for immediate action.

The Officer cautioned against illegal tempering of meters and illegal connections.

He further cautioned individual electricians and private contractors against tempering with any faulty transformers and cables.

Mr Keelson disclosed that theft of high tension service cables was rampant in the Western Region and therefore urged unit committees and neighborhood watch committees, to arrest anybody caught tempering with the cables, meters and transformers.

He advised landlords to engage qualified electricians to wire their houses.

At an open forum, the people complained about inadequate meter cards and rampant power outages in their communities.
