Five persons including a self-styled religious preacher were on Monday charged by a Kumasi Circuit Court for allegedly stealing 28 cans of diesel worth 16,400 Ghana Cedis.

The diesel was the property of A. Kanim limited, an oil selling Company.

All the accused persons with the exception of Nana Kwaku, the self-styled preacher, pleaded not guilty to unlawful entry and stealing, thus, he was convicted but sentence was deferred till October 2008.

Meanwhile, five other accomplices whose names were given only as Ernest, Brenya, Wofa Yaw, Anthony Kaledzi and Kwasi Annor are on the run.

Prosecuting, ASP Regina Addo-Yobo told the court that on September 27 this year, Oteng Asenso, security officer, Nana Kwaku, Religious Preacher, Kwaku Prince, Driver, James Opoku, a Labourer and Frank Agyepong, an Electrician at about 12 am unlawfully entered the Company's yard at Asonomaso, in the Kwabre District and made away with the cans full of the oil.

A report was made to that effect and they were arrested but their accomplices managed to run away and they are on the police wanted list.

The five were therefore arraigned, the Prosecutor said.
