Atlas Copco Ghana supports girl child education in Adansi West

Atlas Copco Ghana Ltd, a Worldwide Industrial Productivity solutions provider, has initiated a programme to directly support Girl Child education in the Obuasi Municipality of the Ashanti Region.

Under the programme, the company is granting a GH¢2,400 educational sponsorship package to Miss Rahinatu Abu of Akrofoum Secondary/Technical School and Miss Patricia Agyeibea-Adu of Obuasi Secondary/Technical School, both in the Adansi West District.

Making this known to the Ghana News Agency at Obuasi on Monday, Ms. Susana Manu, the Communication and Human Resource Manager of the company said the amount would enable the two students complete their four-year senior school programme.

She said the support formed part of the Atlas Copco's corporate social responsibility in the community within which it operates.

Ms Manu said, Girl Child Education considering women's role and positions they were now occupying in society, there was the need to intensify efforts at encouraging more girls in schools.

“Most especially, we need to identify and support the needy but brilliant girls in the Adansi West District where Atlas Copco operates,” she said.

The Managing Director of Atlas Copco Ghana Ltd, Mr George Apostolopoulos said the company, globally valued and had supported the education of children since its inception.

Miss Patricia Agyeibea-Adu on behalf of her colleague, thanked the company for the opportunity granted them which she said would enable them to complete their second cycle education.

They both promised to learn assiduously in order to make the required grades to further their education at the university level and also make Atlas Copco proud.

Mrs Evelyn Benewoe, the Officer-In-Charge of the Girl Child Education at the GES also expressed her gratitude to the company for the support.
