An aspiring Parliamentarian presents computer to School

Mr Mark Woyongo, National Democratic Congress (NDC) Parliamentary aspirant for Navrongo Central Constituency in Upper East Region has pledged to focus more attention on education especially of the youth when elected.

He noted that education was one of the powerful tools that could be used to address the endemic poverty in the area.

Mr Woyongo made the pledge when presenting a computer and accessories to authorities of Saint Mary Junior High School (JHS) in Kassena Nankana District in Upper East Region.

He said he would use his rich experience and international exposure to lobby for more scholarship packages for students in the area while most of the schools were provided with ICT facilities.

Mr Woyongo said he would help facilitate the construction of small irrigation dams and assist people to acquire soft loans to undertake farming to prevent the youth from migrating to urban areas in search of non-existing jobs.

He said women groups would be assisted economically through acquisition of loans and training in business skills to undertake viable ventures to improve their living standards.

Madam Justina Adda, Headmistress of Saint Mary's JHS, expressed appreciation to Mr Woyongo for the gesture that would help facilitate academic work in the school.

Mr Baba Alhassan, Navrongo Central Constituency Chairman of the Party, urged the electorate and political parties to conduct themselves in a civil manner to avoid violence in Election 2008.

He reiterated the need for the media, Electoral Commission and security agencies to play a neutral and impartial role in discharging their duties to help ensure free and fair and election.
