Make research findings available -Chairman of GT Bank

By Stephen Odoi Larbi - Ghanaian Chronicle

The Board Chairman of the Guarantee Trust Bank, Alhaji Yusif Ibrahim has called on Scientists in the country to make their research findings available to the public.

He urged researchers to come out with their findings, which could be presented to the general public in everyday language on a regular basis.

This observation was made during the opening ceremony of the 2nd College of Health Sciences (CHS) annual scientific conference dubbed -”Harnessing Research for the Health of Ghanaians; the role of College of Health Sciences”, in Accra recently.

The prime aim of the conference was to discuss findings of research in health sciences.

According to him, availing research findings to the public would go a long way to help protect the unsuspecting general public from fraudulent characters who go round declaring strange research results in order to spread panic and dupe unsuspecting people.

Alhaji Ibrahim noted that the call on Scientists to consider how to address such false research findings would be helpful. He said research is a very important part of the work of any University and as such any research finding which is not presented to the general public is not complete.

“This is why it is important and necessary to have conference in research findings and also to engage College Scientists and Researchers about the outcome of research”, he added.

Alhaji Ibrahim did not deny the fact that such conferences have quite a huge capital expense and called on international partners to help with the financial burden of holding such conferences.

He disclosed that management of the GT Bank and CHS would be fashioning out long term partnership deal in helping reduce the financial challenges in organising such conferences.
