The electorate in the Tema West and East constituencies of the Greater Accra Region yesterday came out massively to indicate their determination to support the incumbent New Patriotic Party to retain power in the December general elections.

When Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, the party's Presidential Candidate, and members of his campaign team entered the constituencies on the first day of their first comprehensive campaign tour of the Greater Accra Region, all activities in the constituencies were brought to a virtual halt, as thousands of people lined up the streets to cheer up their hero.

He was accompanied on the campaign tour by I C Quaye, Greater Accra Regional Minister; Stanley   Nii Adjiri-Blankson, Mayor of Accra; Nyaho Tamakloe; Sammy Crabbe, Greater Accra Regional NPP Chairman of the NPP; Nana Ohene Ntow, NPP General Secretary, as well as other party stalwarts.

The entire industrial city of Tema was more than electrified, as the people entertained themselves with brass band music, with enthusiastic display of skills in the 'Kangaroo' dance,

Nana Akufo-Addo's first point of call was the Sakumono Taxi Rank in the Tema West constituency where he addressed a large crowd of drivers, and explained to them the need to support the NPP to retain power in the December elections.

At the BBC Taxi Rank, where Nana Akufo-Addo addressed a mini-rally, a stampede nearly occurred, as the large crowd struggled for space to enable then catch a glimpse of the man widely tipped as the next President of the nation.

Nana Akufo-Addo urged the people to remain solid in their support for the NPP and intensify their campaign to ensure a resounding victory for the party in the December elections.

He cautioned them against the temptation of voting to return the opposition NDC to power since in his view, the return of the party founded and controlled by former President Rawlings would derail all the gains made in the nation's development agenda.

Some other places he visited at Tema West were the General Hospital and the State School for the Deaf and Dumb at Adjekojo. He donated food items and stationery to the school.

Nana Akufo-Addo addressed a mini rally at the Adjeikojo Taxi Rank.

At Tema East the NPP Presidential aspirant visited the Fishing Harbour and interacted with the local boat owners.

He gave the assurance that the port city of Tema would be the base of his industrial development when voted into power, while stressing that he would build on the solid foundation laid by President Kufuor.

As at press time yesterday Nana Addo and his campaign team were addressing massive supporters at the Mandela Park, Ashaiman - believed to be another stronghold for the opposition NDC.

They were to go to Kpone Katamanso after the rally.
