NPP congratulates Muslims on end of Ramadan fast
The New Patriotic Party (NPP) Campaign Team has extended felicitations to Muslims on the occasion of the end of the fast of Ramadan, thanking them for their contribution to building the nation.
“On the occasion of “EID-UL-FITR”, the NPP campaign says to all Muslims “Barka da Salah!” as they join a billion and a half other Muslims to mark the end of the fast of Ramadan
“As we celebrate this happy occasion our party and our country thanks Muslims for their significant contributions to our nation and the diversity they bring”, a statement issued in Accra on Tuesday and singed by Dr Arthur Kennedy, Chairman of the Communication Committee of the Team said.
. The statement said: “As Allah states in the Quran (49:9) “And act justly. Truly, God loves those who are just.” This call to Muslims to act justly is common to all faiths
“This is a time when all who can afford in the Islamic faith are enjoined to give alms to the poor.
“It is this spirit of concern for those in the shadows of society, the young, the elderly, the sick and the poor that has motivated the NPP's social spending policies”, the statement said.
Amongst these have been the capitation grant, the school feeding programme and the national health insurance scheme.
The statement enjoined Muslims and all other people of faith to pray and work for a peaceful election season.
“In the coming year, we say to all Muslims “ Asala mu Alaikum,” (Peace be unto you) and to our nation.”
