The Peoples National Convention (PNC) on Tuesday join thousands of Muslims across the country to celebrate Ed-il Fitr.
In a statement signed by Mr Bernard Bornah, PNC General Secretary to the Ghana News Agency, the party noted; “As we celebrate the culmination of this period of rededication, denial and sacrifice (Ed-il Fitr), we take the opportunity to remind all Muslims that the blessings of this period must transcend our trying moment as a country.
“This feast must reinforce our commitment for a prosperous, peaceful and stable Ghana. This period enabled our beloved Muslim brothers and sisters to enjoy a season of piety”.
The party on behalf of Dr Edward Nasigrie Mahama, PNC Flag bearer for Election 2008 reminded Muslims that “as we rejoice in the abundant mercies that came our way in this period, we will be reminded to continue to do the things that are honourable to our nation, our neighbours and ourselves.
“We in the PNC can expect that you (Muslims) would use the occasion to straighten the path of truthfulness, eschew vulgar practices and call on those leaders of ours whose stock in trade it is to deny the majority their share, to desist from it”.
The PNC urged Muslims, to pursue fairness, justice and blissfulness whilst eschewing opulence, arrogance and pomposity. These attributes must guide us as we challenge ourselves to another year of elections.
Ramadan, is one of the major religious obligations that every Muslim must observe; “it is a period of deep supplication, a period of renewal and rejuvenation with Allah the Omnipotent and omniscient.”
