The Municipal Chief Executive of the Ledzokuku-Krowor constituency, Ebenezer Adjei Osekre, has initiated a move to modernize the Teshie-Nungua District to improve sanitation and promote healthy living among the people in the communities.

Among the programmes for the modernization scheme, the MCE disclosed that there were plans to build a state-of-the- art vehicular overpass on the Teshie-Nungua highway.

Speaking in an interview with The Statesman , Adjei Osekre said the project had already been approved by the Department of Urban Roads in Accra and was expected to be executed soon.

He said immediately the overpass is built, it will serve as a long-term measure to ease the massive vehicular traffic congestion which normally occurs on the Teshie-Nungua highway, and also help divert much attention of motorists from using the Tema Motorway en-route to Tema and surrounding areas.

He further stated that his outfit had designed strategies to get Zoomlion, a renowned waste management company, to operate 24 hours in the district.

He said he was concerned with issues about sanitation and was committed to contributing immensely to desilting chocked gutters and clear piled-up refuse in all communities within the district to create sanitary conditions for health development.

According to him, he had ordered the waste management company to place Dustbins at every corner within the district to facilitate clearance of refuse, besides educational programmes that seek to develop the mindset of the people about the effect of unsanitary conditions

When asked whether he was initiating all those development projects to enhance the chances of the New Patriotic Party government to win the forthcoming elections, Osekre said even though political power matters in developmental activities, he had the plight of his people at heart and intended doing all that he could to improve their living standards.

He said after the communities had helped him to become a recognized political figure, he was determined to also help improve their standards of living.

He is a member of the Ghana Institution of Engineers, Architecture and Surveying Institute, and an Associate member of the Chartered Institute of Builders (UK).

Adjei Osekere believed that the success of the projects would depend on transparent and appropriate management of funds, which he said, he was committed to doing.

"I am trying my best to solicit funds for more developmental projects aimed at beautifying my area. It has not been easy but with hard work, I am seeing myself through", he said.
