Nana Oboadie Boateng Bonsu, a 27 year old Senior High School (SHS) graduate from Asuom Senior High Secondary School, is to contest the parliamentary seat of the New Juaben South Constituency as an independent candidate.
Nana Bonsu, currently the Executive Researcher of IRDJ Limited, a company that he claims buys waste cooking oil to turn into diesel, said he decided to go independent because he did not trust the leadership of any of the political parties in the country.
He said he wanted to go to parliament to champion the interest of the youth in the country because most of the elderly politicians had not been truthful to the youth as they promised in their campaigns.
He said that had made many of them to become frustrated and live under a lot of stress.
Nana Bonsu said many of the youth put their trust in the politicians but became frustrated when the politicians failed to fulfil their promises.
He said most of the adult politicians did not have the nation and the interest of the youth at heart adding that they were interested in riding in expensive cars, travelling around the world and making money for themselves after winning power.
Nana Bonsu said his symbol is a green tree on a white background and explained that the green tree represented the youth.
He said currently he was travelling around the country to help establish the Youth Patriotic Movement, a youth pressure group that would help to fight for the interest of the youth to be inculcated in all political decisions.
Nana Bonsu said his office was located in the Koforidua Legion Hall adding that he is the son of Nana Adu Bonsu, owner of Commercial Restaurant in Koforidua.
He said his father contested the New Juaben South parliamentary seat in 2000 on the ticket of People's National Convention (PNC) and in 2004 on the Convention People's Party (CPP) ticket but lost on both occasions.
