Nana Addo`s record is excellent –Gabby

MR. Gabby Otchere Darko, Executive Director of the Danquah Institute has asked Ghanaians to compare political records and leadership roles of the various Presidential candidates vying to occupy the highest seat of the land, before deciding on who they should vote for.

According to him, before a Presidential candidate takes the highest seat of the land, then that candidate must have a proven record of leadership.

Speaking at a day's interaction with the media in Takoradi, Mr. Gabby Otchere Darko, a former Editor of the Statesman Newspaper believed that if the Presidential candidates were able to show record of their political leadership whilst in office, it would aid the Ghanaian voter to judge which of the candidates deserved to be given the nod in this year's election.

According to him, Ghanaians should be grateful that 'we have a Presidential material in Nana Addo. Akufo-Addo, he noted was a leader who is courageous, passionate and competent to serve this country.

The Executive Director of the Danquah Institute, however, stated that among all the Presidential candidates contesting for this year's election, Nana Addo is the only one who deserves to be conferred the title of 'King of peace', based on his proven track record back at home and across the African continent.

Otchere Darko disagreed that the flag bearer of the NDC, Professor Atta Mills was indeed King of peace (Asomdwehene), saying Mills had done nothing as former vice President, to be conferred with that title. To him, Mills has been wrongly given the title because there was a vast difference between Mills' desire for peace and that of Nana Addo.

According to Gabby, the 'Asomdwehene' is the one who leads the fight for stability, peace and freedom in his country and not the person (referring to Mills) who rans away from trouble.

He contended that when Nana Addo was fighting the military dictatorship under Rawlings regime to restore peace and stability, 'Mills was enjoying the comfort of academia'. So let us not equate someone who does not want trouble to mean he is a man of peace.

On Mills' statement that he was never born with a silver spoon in his mouth, Otchere Darko replied that 'whether one was borne with a silver spoon in his mouth or not, it is about what you do with your life that matters, and Nana Addo has exemplified that.
