
THE New Patriotic Party (NPP) will mark its 16th anniversary celebration with a big bash featuring some of the nation's best known names in gospel music in 'Kumasi tomorrow.
The show which has been scheduled to take off at 5.00p.m at the Jubilee Park is free of charge to the public.
Participating artistes include Josh Laryea, Ohemaa Mercy, Christiana Love, No Tribe, Soul Winners, Pastor Joe Beecham, Fred Oware Jnr, Amy Newman, Moses O.K., Noble Nketia, Danny Nettey, Phillipa Baafi, Gifty Osei, Grace Ashy, Kwaku Gyasi and Lady Prempeh.
A spokesperson for Africa Media Core Promotion, the show organisers said to Graphic Entertainment that apart from using it as a platform to thank God for its 16-year existence, the NPP would be grateful to the Almighty for making it possible for them to rule in peace since January 2001.
One of the concert coordinators, Josh Laryea, has also said that the musicians on the bill do not necessarily support the NPP but will be there to work as usual.
"Gospel musicians should feel free to perform for any good cause, no matter which political party initiates it. We must not be held captive by our own profession. Our job is to sing and we must boldly do that at all times."
Kumasi is generally regarded as the home of con¬temporary Ghanaian gospel music and the biggest names in the game gathering there is also a tribute to the city for ably sustaining the genre.
