Professor Dovi Afesi, Dean of Faculty of History, Massachusetts University USA on Friday urged African leaders to invest in education in order to create the right environment for the intellectual development of the continent's youth.
He said quality education for the youth of the continent was a pre-requisite for the accelerated socio-economic advancement Africa needs.
Professor Afesi gave the advice when he presented footballs and a set of jerseys to the Gbi-Kpeme Local Authority Basic School in Hohoe Municipality.
He said the young African needed to be inspired and empowered through quality education to be able to compete globally in all fields of endeavour.
Prof. Afesi promised to support brilliant children from poor backgrounds with scholarships, uniforms and books.
He said such forms of support were necessary to ensure un-interrupted academic progression for such pupils.
Mr. Evans Fia, Headteacher of the School congratulated Prof. Afesi for
his benevolence and asked individuals and organizations with similar capacity
to emulate him.
