GBS,GBA Strike Deal
GATEWAY Broadcasting Services (GBS), has signed a deal with the Ghana Boxing Authority (GBA), to telecast live the Friday, August 2, 2008 boxing bonanza being put together by the GBA in association with the Commonwealth Sports Awards Foundation (CSAF) and Sikaprix International.
The deal grants GBS the media rights to the bonanza which has on the bill the vacant IBF inter-continental super bantamweight strap as well as a final eliminator to the Commonwealth super lightweight belt.
Also on the bill are the African Boxing Union (ABU) Super lightweight and middleweight titles.
The event will come off at the Lebanon House in Tudo, Accra, with Ghana's Galley Cudjoe engaging Daniel Kodjo Sassou of Togo for the IBF inter continental bantamweight strap.
Announcing the deal in Accra yesterday, General Manager of GBS Ghana, Michael Yamson said his outfit is happy to have struck this partnership with the GBA, believing it would enhance the development and promotion of boxing in Ghana.
Chairman of the GBA, Moses Foh Amoaning was elated that GBS had come on board to support the sport and was confident that the deal will enhance the international competitiveness of Ghana boxing.
The GBS system, is a Pan-African Pay-TV Satellite Service delivering choice, quality and innovation in television broadcast to sub-Saharan Africa including Ghana.
