34 Buses For Ashanti Senior Highs
Thirty-four Senior High Schools (SHSs) within the Ashanti Region yesterday received ignition keys to 34 buses donated by the government.
The donation, grouped in batches to ensure that all SHSs in the region are resourced with vehicles, aims to alleviate transportation difficulties facing the majority of the over 80 SHSs in the region.
The first batch of beneficiary schools included Prempeh College, Osei Tutu, Jachie Pramso, Agogo State College, Kumasi Secondary Technical, Nkawie, Armed Forces, Mpasaatia, Agona Secondary/Technical, Kofi Adjei, Juaso, Bompata, Jacobu Secondary Technical, Toase, Bareke and Wesley High at Asante Bekwai.
The rest were Mansoman, Fomena Ahmadiyya, Mankranso, Nanmon, Afia Kobi, Juabeng, Tepa, Tweneboa Kodua, Opoku Ware, Agogo and Kumasi Ahmaddiyya SHS.
The Ashanti Regional Minister, Hon Emmanuel Owusu Ansah, on behalf of President Kufuor, presented the keys to the buses to the Municipal and District Chief Executives of the various areas where the beneficiary schools operate.
The municipal and district authorities were also expected to hand over the keys to heads of the beneficiary schools.
The Regional Minister noted that the gesture was an indication that the New Patriotic Party (NPP) government's promise to prioritize education and make it affordable to all Ghanaian children was not a false one.
Hon. Owusu Ansah pointed out that government was doing everything possible to ensure that all children in the country have access to free formal education even at the secondary level.
He called on heads of the beneficiary schools to use the buses for their intended purposes, and urged Ghanaians to vote massively for the NPP in the December general elections so as to maintain it in power to continue with its good policies.
Receiving the buses on behalf of the schools, Mr. Wilberforce Owusu Ansah, DCE of Atwima Mponua commended the NPP government for its good policies, and pledged that they would work hard to inform the people, particularly those in the districts, of the good works that the NPP government was doing.
