A circuit court at Dormaa Ahenkro, has sentenced Martin Grusi, alias 'Rasta', a farm labourer to nine months imprisonment for stealing two bags of maize belonging to his landlord.

Grusi, who pleaded guilty to the charge, was also ordered by the court presided by Mr Justice V. C. Senu to pay GH¢200 to the landlord or spend an additional 12 months in jail in default.
Prosecuting, Chief Inspector M. K. Yeboah, told the court that the landlord, Mr. Dei Kusi early in May this year detected a short fall of its maize stock on the farm.
He said on May 24 an informant spotted Grusi carrying two bags of maize from the farm to town.
“The informant raised an alarm and some youth chased and apprehended the suspect who later handed him to the police.

Upon interrogation, Grusi confessed that he had earlier stolen four bags of maize from his landlord's barn.
