Security analyst Dr. Kwasi Ennin is next on a tall list of personalities said to be receiving anonymous messages with death threats, but said he will not be cowed into silence.

Dr. Ennin who is also a researcher at the Kofi Annan International Peace Keeping Center said he used to receive sporadic messages of threat but have now become more frequent.

In an interview with Kojo Oppong Nkrumah on Joy FM's Super Morning show on Thursday Dr. Ennin said in times past, he received similar messages which contributed to his disconnection of his land line, largely because he could not trace numbers of the anonymous callers.

The mobile phone chips have also become so common and unregistered that people still threaten others without the possibility of being tracked. He lamented.

He recounted one nasty text message he received on his return to Ghana on Tuesday after traveling out of the country.

“I got in from London on Tuesday night and got one hell of a nasty text message. I tried to call that number, it was disconnected.”

Even though reasons for the threatening messages to Dr. Ennin are yet unknown, his recent media campaign on tips to arrest the drug menace as well violent crimes in the country could not be ruled out.

Dr. Ennin said he would neither be cowed into silence, nor acquire a personal gun for protection, as has been suggested.

“When you buy a legal gun there is the tendency for you to use it.”

He however maintained he is fairly protected.

Dr. Ennin's threatening text messages follows similar messages received by Malik Kweku Baaku, Kwasi Pratt Jnr, and Gina Blay.
