Beauticians & Hairdressers to train orphans for free

The Brong-Ahafo Regional Branch of the National Association of Beauticians and Hairdressers has offered to train, free of charge, inmates of orphanages who may be interested in the hairdressing profession, after completing school.

The Brong-Ahafo Regional President of the Association, Mrs. Margaret Darko, disclosed this when the association presented items, valued at over GH¢700, to the Compassion Is Love In Action (CILIA) Orphanage at Yawhima, near Sunyani.

The items included four bags of rice, one bag of maize and a half bag of Gari. The rest were, one gallon of cooking oil, 4 pieces of cloth, one bag of sugar, 12 packets of toothpaste, bread, biscuits, oranges, toilet rolls and two boxes of soap.

Mrs. Darko, also the National Vice President of the Association, said the donation formed part of the association's social responsibilities, and measures to assist in the smooth running of the home.

She encouraged the management of the home, not to be deterred, since groups such as the hairdressers, were always ready to offer the needed support.

The Manager of CILIA Orphanage, Nana Solomon Adu, thanked the donors for their assistance, and called on other identifiable groups, to come to the aid of the Home.

He pointed out that the running of the home was very difficult, and that regular support from groups, and individuals was important.
