Over 1,555 needy schools benefit from educational supplies in Nkoranza
The Nkoranza District Directorate of Education, has supplied educational items to more than 1,550 needy school children in both Nkoranza North and South Districts within the past four years.
Mr Kwabena Agyemang-Badu, District Director of Education, told the Ghana News Agency (GNA) on Wednesday at Nkoranza that the aim was to encourage parents facing financial difficulties to enroll their children in schools and to help stem the drop-out rate.
He said the package was under the government's educational project, dubbed the pilot programmatic scheme, which offered financial support to deprived districts.
Mr Agyemang-Badu said the provision of the items had increased enrolment in schools, adding, the capitation grant and the school feeding programme had also been effective interventions in promoting education.
He called on parents to take advantage of the interventions enrol their children in schools and appealed to teachers to redouble efforts to help improve the academic performance of students.
Mr Agyemang-Badu advised students to take their education seriously to enable them to acquire gainful employment in future.
