Ghana's male and female head coaches for the hockey teams, Boakye Yiadom (male team) and Richard Abaido are brimming with optimism ahead of the U-21 youth hockey championship which starts on Friday.

For coach Yiadom, the peak in performance of his attcaking trio, comprising Titus Mills, Leslie Barnor and Emmanuel Morisson makes him bellieve that the team will deliver when the competition begins.

"The three guys are very aggressive attackers and on a good day, they dictate the rhythm of the game and we are hoping they replicate such temperament,' said the soft spoken coach.

He, however, admitted that countries like South Africa, Kenya and Egypt will be tough to match, saying, "I will not run away from the fact that some of our opponents are tough, our past experience will guide us to continue from where we left off." He indicated that they will assume the underdog role in the tournament.

Coach Abaido also acknowledged the fact that they will be facing hard-hitting customers such as South Africa and Egypt, but was sure his side will sail through and book a place for the World Cup.

He revealed that the side is a new squad who are putting themselves together and will gel as the tournament gathers momentum.

He also assured everyone that the team was bent on rising to the occasion
