Use Churches’ publications to promote good values – Judge

Justice Samuel Marful-Sau, an Appeal Court Judge, on Sunday said Christian newspapers and magazines must play an active role in evangelism to save readers whose minds were being adulterated with offensive reports by other publications at newsstands.
Launching the “The Herald” newspaper of the Apostolic Church of Ghana, Justice Marful-Sau said because the Holy Bible is not the national constitution, all sort of unpleasant news found their way in newspapers without regard to the law.
The quarterly newspaper would be the mouth piece of the Church.
Justice Marful-Sau, who is also the President of the Commercial Court, therefore, the Herald newspaper must publish sermons preached that borders on issues such as health, education, economics, medicine, among other areas to educate the masses.
He said if care was not taken, there would be a breed of generation who would not know God.
Justice Marful-Sau said nowadays parents do not have time to discuss religion with their wards.
“We leave our children to read materials that adulterate their minds, instead of encouraging them to read what will uplift their spiritual life,” he added.
Justice Marful-Sau charged professionals within the Church to take up the challenge by writing in the Herald, issues that would engender and imbibe in the youth good societal values.
He mentioned government policies such as the National Health Insurance Scheme, the Social Security and the National Identification programme that ought to be featured in the newspaper to educate Church members and the public at large.
Apostle J.K. Senuvie, Vice president of the Church, said the National Council of the Church introduced the newspaper publication of the Church in 1980s when it came out with first with the “Truth”.
He urged members of the Church to cultivate the habit of reading.
