Mr S.B Amponsah, Director of National Vocational Training Institute (NVTI) on Monday advised applicants of driving licence to undergo professional training to curb road accidents.
Speaking at the end of a three-week intensive Driver Instructor Course
for 37 participants, Mr Amponsah said professional training would equip the individual with the requisite skills and knowledge on road signs and other rudiments of the profession as well as stemming out quack drivers.
He said the course would help participants to instruct would-be-drivers to safely operate a motor vehicle in various traffic environments and conditions, "You have to attain trainees' familiarity and understanding of laws, rules and regulations, virtues and limitations that foster their development".
Mr Mawuko Nutator, Course Prefect expressed gratitude to course facilitators adding, "We are pleased to say that we have achieved a lot from this training".
He said as professionals they would endeavour to fulfil the obligations of the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority by churning out professionals to make the roads safe.
"Colleagues, one bad driver on the road is worse than HIV Virus. Let us help to limit the accident on our roads", he said.
The participants were taken through Defensive Driving, Fire Fighting and Prevention, First Aid, Management, Motor Insurance, Lesson Planning, K53 testing, legal requirement and personal hygiene
