Returnee central defender, Gabriel Issah Ahmed has said he is back into the Black Stars squad with a big bang. The former Asante Kotoko skipper, rejoined the Stars when Ghana hosted Gabon in their World/Nations Cup qualifier in Accra after two years absence.

Now domiciled in Denmark, where he features prominently for Renders FC, Issah told the press after the Stars-Panthers game that he is back to reclaim his position in the team. A 'muscle tear' forced the Renders FC defender out of Sunday's game, after partnering perfectly with libero and skipper, John Mensah.

Excited about his great come back, he told the press after the game that “I don't think I disgraced myself, although I had to take an early shower because of a minor thigh injury.”

For once, his presence in the rear brought some fluidity into the central defense, which has recently come under severe criticism from the game's bookmakers.

Reacting to how he fared in the Danish league, he pointed out that “I believe I did my best, we finished sixth in the hotly contested league, the best position my club has attained in the annals of the Danish Super liga, and hoping to do better in the forthcoming season.”

Issah, a key performer of the Stars squad that qualified for the Germany 2006 World Cup, lost his position to Shilla Illiasu after the team's first round elimination in the Egypt 2006 Nations Cup.

When the media asked Issah about future developments in his soccer career, he gave a dry wink and refused to answer. He has since left for Denmark.
