The Fanteakwa District Directorate of Education has introduced a weekly story writing programme in public basic schools in the area to enable the pupils to improve on their reading and writing skills, the Director of Education, Mary Animwah has said.

She said this at a meeting with the staff of the directorate at Begoro to discuss strategies to improve quality education delivery in the district.

Ms Animwah said the programme would help pupils to prepare and participate in national essay competitions, which no pupil in the district had ever competed.

She said pupils from primary six to junior high school two are eligible to participate and will be provided with free exercise books.

Ms Animwah urged the teachers to ensure that they mark the pupils’ stories every Friday to ascertain their writing capabilities.

She appealed to headteachers to co-operate with the authorities to make the programme a success.
