THE mystery surrounding the disappearance of a set of twins at Tsito in the Ho municipality on January 2, was unravelled on Sunday when their skeletons were found in a septic tank close to an uncompleted building. They were nine-years-old.

When news of the twins’ disappearance broke, five people suspected to be part of a child trafficking syndicate were arrested by the Tsito police. They were later released on police enquiry bail.

On Sunday, when the skeletons were found, the police arrested the owner and caretakers of the uncompleted building to assist in investigations.

Briefing reporters here yesterday, the Regional Police Commander, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Bernard Dery, said that at about 8 a.m. on Sunday, May 25, he had information that on January 2, the twins were lured to a private students hostel where they were killed for ritual purposes and their bodies dumped in a septic tank.

Armed with this information, the DCOP said, he led a team of policemen to the site, accompanied by a septic tank emptier from the Ho Municipal Assembly.

At the site, the 12-feet deep septic tank was emptied and the skeletons of the twins were retrieved.
