The Serbia Football Association has accepted to support Ghana with opportunities to develop football in Ghana.

The support, expected in the form of technical expertise, will focus on the training of coaches especially to raise the standards of the local game.

What remains for the take-off of the collaborative project is an official request from the Ghana Football Association (GFA).

At a meeting between Ghana's Ambassador to Serbia, Dr Nyaho Nyaho-Tamakloe, and the Serbia FA early this year, the Serbian officials were said to have agreed in principle to assist Ghana on many fronts towards football development.

Areas of cooperation discussed at the meeting, according to sources, were training of coaches and referees including exchange programmes, arrangement of friendly games between clubs and national teams of the two countries, training facilities, among others.

The Serbian FA also agreed to establish a football nursery in Ghana.

According to sources, the meeting was arranged as part of the ambassador's programme to educate his host country about Ghana's progress in football and matters relating to the Ghana 2008 Nations Cup.
