Daniel Addy 19, a fisherman on Monday appeared before a Sekondi District Magistrate's Court for stealing.
He pleaded not guilty and was remanded in police custody to re-appear on June 9.
Prosecuting, Police Chief Inspector Eben Darko, said at about 1.30 a.m. on April 13 this year, the accused allegedly stole a handbag belonging to the complainant, Agnes Quaison, a teacher at Apowa, while attending a course for teachers at the Kojokrom Methodist School.
He said the complainant and other teachers were asleep in one of the classrooms when they saw someone in another classroom.
Police Chief Inspector Darko said the teachers raised the alarm and the accused who took to his heels was chased and arrested.
He said the accused managed to throw away the handbag containing a mobile phone, a chain, wrist watch and 63 Ghana cedis cash.
