Dr Nduom Congratulates TUC
The CPP presidential candidate, Dr Papa Kwesi Nduom, has asked Ghanaians to take seriously the call made by the TUC for district chief executives (DCEs) to be elected rather than being appointed.
“This is exactly what we have been saying over the last few months as we have toured the length and breadth of the country,” Dr Nduom stated.
He congratulated the TUC on raising the issue, and said it was not entirely strange that the CPP and the TUC appeared to be singing from the same song sheet.
“The working movement of this country has an old and long established relationship with the CPP.”
He said the election of DCEs would give true meaning to the concept of decentralisation and would represent the effective transfer of power to the people.
He commended the TUC for their contribution to Ghana over the years, and said he would build upon the working relationship that the CPP had always had with the TUC.
Dr Nduom has in recent times also spoken about his broader legislative agenda, which includes separating the office of Member of Parliament from that of minister to enable them to play their effective roles.
