African Champions Etoile du Sahel suffered a stunning home defeat to visiting Dynamos of Zimbabwe, knocking them out of this year’s Champions League before the group phase.

Dynamos had a slender 1-0 advantage from the first leg, and scored the only goal of the game in the second leg in Tunisia to claim a fantastic win, 2-0 on aggregate.

Benjamin Marere scored just before the half hour mark to give the visitors a surprise win.

Victory for Dynamos mean they make it through to the lucrative group phase of the tournament, and the title holders are out.

Their participation in the game had been in doubt in the run up to the match because of hugely escalating travel costs.

But they raised the cash at the last moment, and so only arrived in the coastal resort of Sousse in the early hours of the morning of the game.

The defeat for Etoile leaves them battling for a place in the last stages of the Confederation Cup.

¨ The English newspaper Evening Gazette claims that Egyptian striker Mido is up for sale from his English Premiership club – Middlesbrough. Boro coach Gareth Southgate is looking forward to sign the Brazilian duo of Wagner Love and Fred to enhance his team’s attacking performance.

A striker and two new midfielders will be summer transfer priorities and Southgate will release an asset or two to finance such a deal, with Egyptian striker Mido the only obvious candidate.

Mido’ performances have been disappointing since signing earlier this season although he was plagued by injury. The Egyptian made only 10 appearances for his side and scored only two goals.
