A three-day Ashanti Regional Education Sector annual review workshop has ended in Kumasi with a call on stakeholders in education to complement government’s efforts to ensure quality education in the country.

Mr Osei-Assibey, the Deputy Ashanti Regional Minister, who made the call in a closing address, said 'education is the pivot around which the development of a nation is built and therefore the government would continue to provide logistics to ensure efficient education delivery and management'.

He was of the view that the workshop had helped to enhance accountability and transparency among the stakeholders and facilitated information sharing.

The workshop was attended by directors of education, district chief executives, assembly members, religious and traditional leaders.

It was aimed at assessing the overall educational status in the region, consolidate achievements made during previous years and identify challenges and actions for the ensuing years.

Mr Osei-Assibey assured them of government’s support to turn their weaknesses and threats into opportunities for them to be able to train the youth to assume responsible positions in future.

Mr Joseph K. Onyinah, Ashanti Regional Director of Education, said the Ministry of Education, Science and Sports has drawn up an educational plan for implementation which would serve as the framework for the country to meet its commitment towards achieving its Millennium Development Goals.
