VICE President Aliu Mahama yesterday assured the chiefs and people of the Prang Traditional Area in the Brong-Ahafo Region, of the government’s commitment to providing them with their basic needs.
He said their request for the provision of potable water and the tarring of the Prang-Kintampo road would be met.
Vice President Mahama said this when the paramount chief of the area, Nana Kwadwo Nyarko III, led a delegation to call on him at the Castle, Osu, yesterday.
The delegation was at the Castle to renew an appeal made to government on a number of issues, including the upgrading of the Prang Senior High School into a model school.
Alhaji Mahama said the upgrading of schools is an ongoing process, adding that 25 new ones have been selected for the second phase of the programme after the completion of the first 35.
He gave the assurance that the Prang Senior High School would be considered in the next batch of schools.
On an appeal to the government to provide a bus for the school, the Vice President said he has forwarded the request to the GETfund Secretariat and the Ministry of Education, Science and Sports and expressed the hope that the school will benefit from a consignment of 100 buses which have been imported for distribution to schools.
Earlier, Nana Nyarko, commended the government for the various projects it has undertaken in the area including telephone facilities and said these projects were helping the people to lead decent lives.
He, however, appealed for the elevation of the Prang Health Centre into a hospital status.
